<h2>Meet Nick</h2>I was raised on a dairy farm, I put myself through undergraduate and graduate school - I am no stranger to hard work. I also survived a healthcare crisis during grad school. I bring a fresh perspective and an ability to bridge the rural and urban divide. As a rural democrat, I will do everything I can to bring both sides together, and end divisive politics to finally deliver real results that work for all of us.I started my career at Portland State University. After navigating through my own health crisis, I stayed on with the university where I managed healthcare services and policies as the Student Health Advisor for over a decade. This experience deeply committed me to ensuring accessible and effective healthcare for all. Working in this role, I managed complex budgets and developed health policies that impacted 28,000 students, teaching me the ins and outs of public resource management and the need for healthcare solutions tailored to specific needs. Later, I worked as a legislative aide in this very district, working directly with District 52 constituents. This experienced sharpened my policy-making and constituent service skills, equipping me with the necessary insights to effectively navigate the legislative process. I am committed to solving problems and governing with transparency, integrity, and a focus on community leadership.Aside from my professional life, I have a strong personal connection to education through my husband, who is a dedicated middle school teacher. This relationship has given me a deeper understanding of the educational system, fueling my advocacy for better resources and support for educators and students. And of course, I am Uncle Nick to my 10 beautiful nieces and nephews.I am driven by my commitment to my friends, family, and community. I want more opportunities for my nieces and nephews—opportunities like better schools, accessible healthcare, and safe neighborhoods. These are the same things I want for all of Oregon’s children—the promise of a brighter, more secure future. Growing up on a dairy farm in rural Oregon, I understand the value of hard work. I know first-hand what it means to be insured but not coveredMy mother passed away at 54, having slipped through the gaps in our healthcare system without the insurance she needed. Her story underscores a painful reality many face due to systemic oversights.During my first year of graduate school, I was diagnosed with a significant health crisis and realized that my university-provided insurance was woefully inadequate, burdening me with high out-of-pocket costs that hindered my access to medically-necessary treatment.These experiences propelled me into advocacy, and solidified my resolve to ensure accessible and effective healthcare for all.Healthcare Accessibility Summary: Access to comprehensive healthcare is essential, especially for rural and underserved communities. Our campaign focuses on expanding healthcare services, enhancing mental health care, and supporting addiction recovery.<ul><li>Expand Healthcare Services: Increase access to preventive care and chronic disease management.</li><li>Mental Health: Boost funding for mental health services and integrate these resources across healthcare providers.</li><li>Support for Addiction Recovery: Advocate for comprehensive drug addiction treatment programs and community-based recovery options.</li></ul>

We believe that access to meaningful healthcare and not just expensive health insurance is a fundamental right. Access to affordable healthcare ensures that no one is left behind, regardless of their economic status.
